Privacy Policy

DineHop operates DineHop Restaurant Finder ("the app") and this website. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

What the app collects and why

• Location (only with your permission). Used to find restaurants near you and show how far away they are. You can decline location and search a neighbourhood, postcode or area instead. The app still works.
• Your searches. The searches you make are used to return relevant restaurants. Recent searches are kept on your device so you can repeat them, and you can clear them at any time.
• Saved restaurants and private notes. Saving places requires a free account. The places you save and any notes you add are stored against your account for your own use. They are private to you.
• Restaurant information. Listings, photos, opening hours, prices, reviews and locations are provided through Google Maps Platform. Food-hygiene ratings are provided by official government food-hygiene schemes in the countries where they operate.
• Diagnostics and crash reporting. We use Firebase Crashlytics and Analytics to collect sanitised, non-identifying diagnostics that help us keep the app reliable. We do not put your search terms, notes or precise location into diagnostics.

This website

• Analytics (with your consent). We use Google Analytics to understand how this website is used so we can improve it. Nothing is loaded until you choose Allow analytics, and you can change your mind at any time using Cookie preferences in the footer. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not track you across other websites.

Service providers

We use Google Firebase (including Analytics and Crashlytics) and Google Cloud to operate the app and this website. Restaurant data comes from Google Maps Platform; food-hygiene ratings come from official government food-hygiene schemes in the countries where they operate.

Keeping and removing your data

Recent searches live on your device and are removed when you clear them or uninstall the app. Saved places and notes are held against your account and are removed when you delete them or delete your account. Diagnostic data is retained by our providers for a limited period before it expires.

Your choices

• Turn location permission on or off in your device settings.
• Clear your recent searches and saved places in the app whenever you like.
• Allow, refuse or withdraw website analytics consent using Cookie preferences.

How we contact you

If you create an account, we may contact you by email or through in-app notifications:

• Service and account messages. To verify your email, reset your password, respond to your requests, and tell you about important changes to the app, this website or these policies.
• Safety and fraud prevention. To confirm it is really you, investigate suspicious activity, prevent fraud or abuse, and enforce our Terms of Use and Community Guidelines.
• Promotional messages. Occasionally, to share news, new features, tips or offers.

Service, security, account and legal messages are necessary while your account is open, so you cannot opt out of them. Promotional messages are optional: you can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in the message or your account settings, and this will not affect the rest of the service.

Children

The app is not directed to children under the age required in your jurisdiction.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be surfaced in the app or on this page.
